My name is Mert Guven. I live in Toronto, Canada. I've been doing photography since 2017. I had done photo shoots for bands, prom, scooter riders, festivals, landscape, concerts, weddings and more. I am currently a student of Ontario College Art and Design (OCAD) university, Bachelor of Fine Arts program.
Summer of 2017, the combination of an upcoming road trip and my friend getting into photography, my interest on photography had been reignited. I took my dad's camera and decided to take pictures on the trip. What had inspired me to keep going, was the ability to show the world how I see it while let others to explore what they see in the picture.Everybody sees the world and thinks differently and I found photography as my way to convert my views and thoughts into something tangible while letting others interpret it in their own way just like Edgar Degas said “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see”
My philosophy with taking pictures is to represent the essence of what I’m taking, as well as its physical look while giving a message. Whenever I’m shooting a person, I refrain from positioning them or telling them what to do. I capture the moments when the person is singing, laughing, dancing, etc. to not only get the physical image, but the essence of the person as well.
I believe there are a lot to learn to grow and evolve my style. Learning from the best in the business, professors, and my peer artists will help me continue on my path of exploration and evolution.
Please contact me for any photography needs. I will work with you to understand your needs and provide you the best and affordable business.

Photographer for Piero Gabrielli clothing, http://www.pierogabrieli.com, September 7, 2018
This was a solo project. I was put in a showroom for the company’s clothes and all I was told was to take pictures for their website. I felt like a child put in a sandbox, except for photography, which was very exciting for me because I had ultimate creative freedom with my camera and only the walls of the room being my limits.
At first, I was worried that my images wouldn’t suffice. I had done photo shoots for bands, prom, scooter riders, festivals and more, but this helped me learn that just as I can adapt to life circumstances. I can do the same for photography. I took some pictures then was shown examples from other clothing companies then immediately took pictures that the company liked very much. I understood that just as I had quickly adapted to different circumstances when I moved cities or took on different activities I could do the same with photography. The reason I hadn’t learned this sooner from my other photography projects was because there was no measure of my picture’s quality, they were simply glad they had pictures. But the pictures were to be used for an expensive Italian clothing companies website and needed to be good.
